Ballot Measures & Election Law

Our attorneys are at the forefront of election law and direct democracy efforts in Nebraska. We excel at drafting ballot language, advising on compliance,  and defending ballot measures in Nebraska courts.

The attorneys at GLG have a deep understanding of the intricacies of Nebraska’s ballot qualification process.

Having advised numerous statewide ballot campaign committees, we help clients navigate these processes by offering comprehensive, goal-oriented solutions. Our team counsels ballot campaign committees through every step of the ballot qualification process, from legislative drafting and signature collection, to litigation and implementation. Most recently, the firm secured three unanimous victories at the Nebraska Supreme Court on behalf of ballot campaign committees facing procedural challenges to qualification. The firm also successfully represented the sponsors of two medical cannabis initiatives in a four-day trial in Lancaster County District Court against allegations of signature fraud.

In addition to ballot measures, GLG provides strategic and compliance advice to political candidates, elected officials, and democracy-oriented nonprofits. We help ensure our clients are ready and prepared for election-cycle challenges, including election certification.
